Drug manufacturers from California are moving their methamphetamine operations to Oregon, a federal attorney said. In the last couple of years, authorities have raided four methamphetamine operations run by Californians, including three with reported ties to the Hells Angels motorcycle gang, Tom Coffin, assistant U.S. attorney, said in Eugene, Ore. Five people arrested recently near Ontario, Calif., are the most recent suspects in what Coffin called “a disturbing trend that we’ve spotted.” A subsequent search in eastern Oregon turned up a sizeable quantity of PCP and methamphetamine, “and all these people that turned up on the premises are from California,” Coffin said. “One of those individuals is a vice president of a Hells Angels club in California.”
