Orange County Community College Roundup : Shore Scores 6 Goals for Saddleback

Keith Shore scored six goals to lead Saddleback College to a 16-12 victory over San Diego Mesa in an Orange Empire Conference water polo match Tuesday at San Diego Mesa.

The Gauchos (4-0, 7-1) led after the first quarter, 8-4, and at halftime, 9-6.

Denny Bethke added three goals for Saddleback.

In other Orange Empire water polo action:

Cypress 18, Grossmont 11--Kurt Rudolph scored five goals and Danny Walsh, Matt Riviere and Glen Parker each scored three to lead Cypress (1-4) at Grossmont.

In men’s soccer:

Orange Coast 1, Riverside 0--John Bovetas scored with three minutes left off an assist by Dave Vautrin in a Orange Empire Conference match at Riverside. Steve Muzzy had seven saves for OCC (2-1-1, 4-2-2).

Golden West 1, San Diego 0--Jose Cueva scored with 1:15 remaining in the second half to give the Rustlers (8-0-2) the nonconference victory at San Diego. It was the fifth shutout for Golden West.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Rancho Santiago 3, Mount San Antonio 2--The Dons (2-3) won at Mount San Antonio, 15-11, 6-15, 15-4, 5-15, 15-7. Karen Heibert had 14 kills for Rancho Santiago, and Denise Dawson had 5 service aces.
