Carson 46, Granada Hills Kennedy 0--George Malauulu completed 6 of 11 passes for 93 yards and 3 touchdowns in a nonleague game at Gardena High. Two of the touchdowns were thrown left-handed and one right-handed. Wide receiver John Lark had 3 receptions for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Colt running attack was led by Errol Sapp, who had 91 yards and 1 touchdown in 8 carries The Carson defense held Kennedy to five yards in offense in the first half and allowed the Golden Cougars to cross midfield on only two occasions during the game. Carson, The Times’ No. 1 ranked City team, is now 3-0. Kennedy is 1-2.

Van Nuys 13, Marshall 6--A 68-yard pass play from Louis Vann to Frederick Bryant helped lead the Wolves (2-0-1) to a nonleague victory over the Barristers (0-3) at Marshall. Van Nuys increased its lead to 13-0 on a 15-yard touchdown run by Mohhamad Zaid one play after the Wolves recovered a Marshall fumble. Darren Hubert scored the Barristers’ only touchdown on a one-yard run.

San Pedro 31, Fairfax 12--Quarterback Grant Beachley completed touchdown pass plays of 24, 10 and 31 yards to Rodney Garcia in a nonleague game at Fairfax. Beachley finished with 10 completions in 19 attempts for 185. San Pedro’s ground game was powered by Anthony Tapp, who gained 105 yards in 19 carries, and Tyrone Futch, who had 74 yards in 8 carries, including a 13-yard touchdown run. Fairfax (0-3) got its touchdowns on a 20-yard pass from James Malbrough to wide receiver Charlie Maye and a 3-yard run by Carl Thurston. San Pedro (2-1) led at the half 21-0.

Southern Section Bishop Amat 10, Esperanza 7--Trailing 7-3 with 6:45 left in the game, Bishop Amat drove 59 yards with Mazio Royster scoring on a 17-yard run with 4:12 remaining to give the Lancers a nonleague victory at Valencia High. Esperanza opened the scoring in the second quarter on Rick Pressel’s one-yard run, and Steve Clark cut the margin to 7-3 with a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. Bishop Amat, The Times’ No. 4 ranked team, is now 5-0. Esperanza is 3-2.

Santa Monica 42, Edison 21--Tailback Glyn Milburn continued to pile up the yards and touchdowns, gaining 367 yards and scoring 5 touchdowns in a nonleague game at Santa Monica College. In four games, Milburn, second cousin to 1972 Olympic high hurdles champion Rodney Milburn, has gained 1,053 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. The Viking defense had four interceptions, including two by Jim LaBrie. Edison quarterback Greg Angelovic gained 154 yards in 13 carries scored on touchdown runs of 18, 18 and 16 yards. Santa Monica, The Times’ No. 12 ranked team, is now 4-0. Edison, off to the worst start in the school’s history, is 0-5.

Crespi 56, Santa Clara 14--Russell White carried the ball just 9 times but still gained 230 yards and scored on runs of 31, 68, 61 and 42 yards in a nonleague game at Crespi. Teammate J. J. Lasley added 95 yards and 3 touchdowns in 11 carries for the Celts. In five games, White has gained 881 yards in 77 carries, an average of 11.44 yards per carry, and scored 14 touchdowns. Crespi, The Times’ No. 2 ranked team, is 4-0-1. Santa Clara is 3-1.

Victor Valley 17, Hesperia 3--Deveron Roberts rushed for 147 yards in 10 carries, including touchdown runs of 41 and 50 yards, as the Jackrabbits, ranked No. 6 in the Southeastern Conference, defeated the Scorpions in a San Andreas League game played before a crowd of 5,500 at Victor Valley High. Victor Valley, which limited Hesperia to 129 yards in total offense, is 2-0 in league and 3-2 overall. The Scorpions are 0-2 and 2-3.

Cajon 42, Apple Valley 14--Senior Mike Beauregard rushed for 199 and 3 touchdowns in 21 carries for Cajon in a San Andreas League game at Cajon. Garrett Skipper added touchdown passes of 45 and 40 yards for the Cowboys. Apple Valley’s scoring came from Kirt Landreath on a 3-yard run and from Kevin Bryant, who passed 25 yards to Jon Fisher. Cajon is now 2-0 in league; 4-1 overall. Apple Valley is 0-2, 1-4.

Burbank Burroughs 41, Crescenta Valley 14--Doug Dragomer of Burroughs, who was held to a season-low 34 yards rushing in 10 carries, returned three punts for 156 yards and 1 touchdown in a nonleague game at Burroughs. Jeff Barrett completed 8 of 14 passes for 135 yards and 1 touchdown to add to the Burroughs total. The Burroughs defense held Crescenta Valley to 72 yards in total offense. Burroughs, No. 10 ranked by The Times’, is now 4-0. Crescenta Valley is 0-4.

Serra 49, Mary Star 6--Quarterback Eric Hamilton passed for 243 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for a score to lead the Cavaliers to a Camino Real League victory at Daniel Field in San Pedro. Hamilton completed 8 of 16 passes as Serra improved its league record to 2-0 and 5-0 overall. Mary Star is 1-1 and 2-3. Steve Danzy of Serra scored his ninth touchdown of the year on a six-yard run in the fourth quarter, and Dion Figures ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for another to give him nine touchdowns this year.

Beverly Hills 34, Agoura 20--Running back Willie Crawford paced the visiting Normans with 201 yards and 4 touchdowns, including a 31-yard run 49 seconds into the fourth quarter to break a 20-20 deadlock. Agoura had tied the nonleague game with 1:55 remaining in the third quarter on a 58-yard end-around by Mike Armstrong. Beverly Hills is 4-1; Agoura is 3-2.
