La Habra Comes Up Short, 13-6
A goal-line stand by Hacienda Heights Wilson High School in the final two minutes helped preserve a 13-6 victory over La Habra Friday night at La Habra Stadium.
Wilson’s defense, which held La Habra to just 85 total yards, turned back the Highlanders after La Habra had a first-and-goal from the Wildcat seven-yard line with 1:52 remaining.
La Habra quarterback Matt Shackelford, who came in to replace starting quarterback Al Razo midway through the fourth quarter, was sacked twice in the final series, including a six-yard loss on fourth down from the Wilson 22-yard line that ended La Habra’s final threat.
All of the scoring took place in the first half as Wilson quarterback Chris Aquino threw touchdown passes of three yards to Chris Curl and four yards to Robert Compton.
Razo scored La Habra’s only touchdown on an 18-yard run in the second quarter.
