British actress Judy Carne, charged with possessing cocaine after arriving at London’s Gatwick Airport last week, was released on bail in Horsham, England, on Wednesday pending a court hearing. Reuters news service reported that the 48-year-old comedian carried 185 milligrams about of cocaine, worth about $25, when she arrived at Gatwick from New York last week to visit her family in central England. Magistrates in this southern English town ordered Carne, charged under her real name, Joyce Audrey, to surrender her passport and appear in court Nov. 11. In 1986, the former wife of actor Burt Reynolds and star of 1960s “Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in” was sentenced by a British court to three months in jail for possession of cocaine, marijuana and amphetimines.
