Clarence (Buddy) Ray, who has been the acting top official for Orange County’s largest anti-poverty organization, was selected to head the organization at a board meeting Wednesday night.

Ray, 36, had been appointed interim executive director of the Community Development Council last April after the board of directors refused to renew the contract of then-president John Flores.

As president, Ray will head the private, nonprofit organization, which is an umbrella group for other, smaller agencies serving the poor in Orange County. His salary was not announced.

Ray has been a manager with the council for three years. Before joining the council, he was a management consultant and worked as a supervisor in Fullerton’s manpower department.
