CSUN Rally Fails in Men’s Volleyball
Cal State Northridge, unable to sustain its rally from a 14-5 deficit in the fifth game, was defeated by the University of Victoria, 15-13, 15-6, 5-15, 13-15, 15-13, Friday in the first round of the Thunderball men’s volleyball tournament.
The Matadors play tonight for third place in the two-day tournament at the University of British Columbia.
Jeff Campbell led CSUN with 32 kills and a .300 hitting percentage and Ron Graening added 16 kills.
“We were down 11-1 in the first game, but after that we played a real good match,” CSUN Coach John Price said. “The mental toughness we showed was just great.”
CSUN concludes its four-day tour of Western Canada with a match against British Columbia on Sunday.
