The owner of the Aladdin hotel-casino in Las Vegas is under investigation on suspicion of evading $175 million in taxes in Japan, according to Japanese tax officials quoted by Reuters news service. Ginji Yasuda, a Korean citizen who operates a real estate business in Japan, has had a Los Angeles residence since 1971. He bought the Aladdin last year for $54 million cash, which reportedly came from a $145-million sale in 1984 of real estate in Tokyo. He disclosed to Nevada casino regulators earlier this year that the Internal Revenue Service is auditing his personal tax returns.
