Shockley Gives Pacifica Jolt It Needs in 27-8 Win
Sophomore running back Chris Shockley scored three second-half touchdowns to lead Pacifica High School to a 27-8 Garden Grove League victory over La Quinta Friday at Bolsa Grande High.
Shockley broke a scoreless tie with five minutes gone in the third quarter when he caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Shelby Hart. The score capped an 11-play drive in which Hart completed 4 of 5 passes for 75 yards.
Shockley extended Pacifica’s (6-2-1, 5-1) lead to 14-0 on a 28-yard run 30 seconds into the fourth quarter. The score was set up two plays earlier when Hart threw a 46-yard pass to Charlie Powers, advancing the ball to the La Quinta 18.
La Quinta (3-6, 3-3) narrowed the deficit to 14-8 with five minutes left on a 23-yard touchdown pass from Jeff Anderson to Trent Julian and Anderson’s two-point conversion pass to Julian Canales.
Seven plays after La Quinta failed to gain possession in its onsides kick attempt, Shockley put the game out of reach with a 16-yard touchdown run. With 13 seconds left to play, Oscar Ravelo added the final score on a 51-yard run.
