You can buy almost anything from a vending machine these days--even art. New York artist Ona Lindquist’s Objets Vend’art, a set of repainted ice cream dispensers, have dispatched almost 25,000 tiny objets d’art to patrons of trendy clubs in New York, Atlanta, Charleston, S.C., and San Francisco. For prices ranging from 75 cents to $1.50, buyers receive small non-traditional art items. An example: one ice cream door marked “Letters to Ollie,” offered up to nine letters of outrage, addressed and ready to mail to Oliver North’s lawyer. Coming soon: a door labeled “Donation,” which will vend a picture of a homeless person and a message that the money spent will be donated to the homeless.
