Siberia Airport Again Shuts Down--No Fuel
From Reuters
MOSCOW — Krasnoyarsk airport in Siberia was closed on Sunday for the fifth consecutive day because of a shortage of fuel for planes, Moscow radio reported.
Stranded passengers are being accommodated in hotels in the city while the airport waits for fresh deliveries from the Omsk oil refinery to refuel long and short-haul planes.
Although the Soviet Union is the world’s biggest oil producer, fuel shortages periodically hit the state airline Aeroflot, and internal flights have to be canceled.
