Garden Grove League Roundup : Pincombe’s Shot at Buzzer Lifts Bolsa Grande, 50-48

Mark Pincombe scored on a rebound basket as time ran out to lift Bolsa Grande High School to a 50-48 victory over Rancho Alamitos in a Garden Grove League boys’ basketball game Friday at Bolsa Grande.

Jim Usey took an outlet pass and threw up a halfcourt attempt with four seconds left, but the ball hit high on the backboard and came down to Pincombe, who was waiting in the key.

Joe Small led Bolsa Grande (11-4, 4-1) with 17 points.

Harry Torikian had 13 and Usey 12. Tim Palelec led Rancho Alamitos (4-8, 3-2) with 19 points.

Kennedy 63, Pacifica 53--The Fighting Irish (8-7, 5-0) held off a fourth-quarter rally at Pacifica to remain undefeated in league play.

The Mariners (4-8, 2-3) trailed, 46-32, after three quarters but cut the deficit to three with six minutes remaining on a pair of three-point field goals by Ricky Flores.

But Kennedy’s Wendall Lauderdale scored five consecutive points, and Pacifica never challenged again. Lauderdale scored a game-high 17 points. Jeff Banks 10 points for Pacifica.

Los Amigos 69, Santiago 36--The Lobos (6-9, 3-2) outscored the Cavaliers (1-9, 0-5), 23-7, in the third quarter to turn the game into a rout.

J.J. Jenkins scored a career-high 31 points for Los Amigos, and Carlos Palomino had 12.

La Quinta 63, Garden Grove 41--The Aztecs (9-6, 2-3) jumped in front, 19-8, in the first quarter and were never threatened.

Scott Campbell and Tim Brunner each scored 10 points for La Quinta.

Isidro Maldonado had 13 for Garden Grove.
