Swiss runner Sandra Gasser said she is disappointed by the decision upholding her two-year suspension for steroid use at last year’s World Track and Field Championships.

An arbitration panel of the International Amateur Athletics Federations said Gasser and the Swiss Athletic Federation had failed to show that the tests in which drugs were found violated the rules.

She was the only athlete who tested positive for drugs at the world championships, which were held in Rome.

The two-year suspension will remain in effect until Sept. 5, 1989, meaning that Gasser will be ineligible for this year’s Olympics.
