Golden Gate Transit buses could be rolling again Monday if the drivers’ union ratifies a proposed settlement reached by negotiators Friday night, both sides agreed.

Bruce Selby, Golden Gate Bridge District spokesman, said that if the union ratified the contract at a meeting today, the buses “will be moving again first thing Monday morning.”

The drivers walked off the job on Jan. 23. The drivers, whose contract had expired Jan. 1, sought a pay hike, but the major issue was a district push to hire more part-time drivers, who receive pay but no benefits.

Details were not revealed of the settlement reached Friday in the weeklong strike by the 300 drivers of commuter buses on the Golden Gate Bridge, a bridge official said.
