Sacramento Tailor Wins $10.38 Million at Lotto, Says He’ll Keep On Sewing
SACRAMENTO — A 36-year-old Sacramento tailor who purchased his lottery ticket at the liquor store next door to his shop was the winner of a $10.38-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot, lottery officials said Thursday.
“I just want to carry on like I’ve been,” an excited yet frazzled Kishore Sharma said shortly after he arrived at Lottery headquarters to claim his prize.
Sharma works for a men’s clothing shop, DeRow & Sharma Tailors & Clothiers, which is partly owned by his brother and is two blocks from the Capitol. He said he regularly buys his tickets next door at Rodney’s Cigars & Liquors, picking numbers at random.
Married and the father of two girls, 6 and 9, Sharma said he hasn’t “decided anything yet” on future plans for the money, which will be paid out in 20 annual after-tax payments of $415,200.
The winning numbers in Wednesday’s Lotto 6/49 drawing were 36, 21, 26, 33, 40 and 22 with the bonus number 17.
The jackpot for Saturday’s game is expected to be more than $4 million.
