Arts Festival to Feature 200 Artists
More than 200 artists from throughout the Southwest will exhibit their work at the 28th annual Hillcrest Festival of Fine Arts Feb. 26 to 28 at the Hillcrest Congregational Church, 2000 West Road, La Habra Heights. Admission to the festival will be free.
In addition to the art exhibition, there will be demonstrations of techniques in painting, sculpture, weaving, glass blowing, print-making, ceramics and other media.
Two performances also will be part of the festival:
The theatrical montage, “Brecht: Portrait of an Artist in Troubled Times,” will be given at 3 p.m. on Jan. 27 and at 2 p.m. on Jan. 28. Participants will include the Cal Arts Players under the direction of Andy Griggs.
Ralph Vaughan Williams’ oratorio “Dona Nobis Pacem” will be sung at 10 a.m. on Feb. 28. James Beaumier will conduct soloists, orchestra and the combined choirs of the Hillcrest Congregational Church and the East Whittier Methodist Church. Beth Lower will be the organist.
