Paroled killer and rapist Richard Sommerhalder, who missed an appointment with parole officers, was the object of a statewide, all-points bulletin. While Sommerhalder was not believed to be in the Santa Cruz area, Dist. Atty. Art Danner said he had issued warnings to witnesses who testified against Sommerhalder, victims and members of victims’ families that the parolee was being sought. Danner also said he had taken special precautions for his own safety. Sommerhalder, 41, a former resident of nearby Aptos, was convicted of killing two women in 1976 and later of assaulting two others. He was paroled in January after serving 8 1/2 years of two five-years-to-life sentences.
