COMING ATTRACTIONS

Latino music’s steady march into the mainstream record marketplace takes a significant step today at 15 Los Angeles-area Wherehouse record stores. The stores, most of which are in heavily Latino neighborhoods, will begin showcasing Spanish-language records released by a top U.S. recording company. WEA Latina--the Spanish-language recording arm of Warner Communications Co.--made the deal with Wherehouse to offer its full line of 50 Spanish-language titles, including records by lesser-known artists as well as such top crossover performers as Linda Ronstadt, Ruben Blades and Maria Conchita Alonso.
