San Diego
A man wearing surgeon’s garb was arrested and booked on suspicion of trespassing after making his way into a Mercy Hospital operating area Tuesday, police said.
Angel Uribe Ojeda, 19, of Martin Avenue in San Diego, was seen in the second-floor surgery area by a hospital worker and was detained by security officers, police said.
Hospital spokeswoman Laura Avallone said Ojeda entered a physicians’ lounge and donned the uniform worn by doctors and scrub nurses during surgery.
“He put them on incorrectly,” Avallone said. “By the way he was dressed and his appearance, he looked a bit suspicious.”
She said Ojeda did not get beyond a checkpoint for physicians and nurses.
Avallone said the man told hospital security that he was there to visit someone and was informed that no one by the name he gave had been admitted. He then allegedly sneaked up to the second floor.
Sgt. Anne O’Dell said Ojeda was wanted on a failure-to-appear warrant for a drug violation.
