British Petroleum Co. PLC said valid acceptances to its offers for Britoil PLC, together with its existing holdings, total about 80% of Britoil’s outstanding shares. BP also said its increased offer to buy all the Britoil shares it did not already own had been extended to 3 p.m. Feb. 24. As of noon Thursday, 252.2 million Britoil ordinary shares had been tendered, representing 50% of Britoil’s ordinary outstanding shares. Acceptances and valid purchases, therefore, total 402,557,702 Britoil ordinary shares, representing 79.8% of Britoil’s ordinary share capital, BP said.
