An anencephalic baby girl, born Feb. 20 in Texas with most of her brain missing, died peacefully Sunday night, a day after she was taken off the respirator, hospital officials said today. Her heart valves, eyes and corneas were donated for other children.
Evelyn Keys died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday, said Dr. Joyce Peabody, chief of neonatology at Loma Linda University Medical Center. “She died peacefully,” she said. “The parents are saddened, but still very pleased their daughter could give some gift of life.”
