Ted Turner said Tuesday that his new Turner Network Television (TNT) will eschew sex and violence for more wholesome programs. Turner said shows like “Roots” and “Shogun,’ would fit in well on TNT, scheduled to debut Oct. 3. He also said the network would carry many of the 3,000 MGM films that he bought for $200 million, including several black and white films that he’s colorized, a controversial process that has spurred vehement protests from directors. Soon to be colorized: “Knute Rockne,” “David Copperfield,” “Key Largo” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”
