Long Beach Women Open Tournament Against Pacific Tonight
Cal State Long Beach, ranked No. 8 in the nation, will open against University of the Pacific in the first round of the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. women’s basketball tournament tonight at 8 in the 49ers’ campus gym.
Long Beach (22-5 overall, 18-0 in the PCAA) has won 14 straight games, including a two-point victory over No. 14-ranked USC three weeks ago. Pacific is 9-18 and 4-14.
San Diego State (20-9, 11-7) will play Frenso State (16-11, 11-7) in the tournament opener at 1 p.m. Nevada Las Vegas (22-6, 14-4), the second-seeded team behind the 49ers, will play Hawaii (14-13, 8-10) at 3. In the third game, Cal State Fullerton (17-10, 12-6) will face UC Irvine (11-15, 9-9) at 6 p.m.
The tournament will move from Long Beach to the Forum for Friday’s semifinals at 2 and 4 p.m. and the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m.
