‘Two Sides of Yaroslavsky’

On behalf of the many residents of the 2200 block of Midvale Avenue we thank you for having the awareness and the courage to run the Yaroslavsky article.

We were sorry, however, that an important element--Yaroslavsky’s campaign war chest--was missing from the story. A recent article in The Times’ Westside section did list the many developers who have contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Yaroslavsky. We feel everyone should understand his motivation.

Perhaps what will hurt him the most will be the gridlock that will inevitably result from the Westside building boom now in full swing. Thousands of new employees, hired to work in newly created office space in the high-rises on Santa Monica, Wilshire and Olympic boulevards will spend hours in their cars trying to get off Los Angeles’ busiest freeway area, then crawl block-by-block to their parking areas.

Secretly we hope that Yaroslavsky does become mayor because he will no longer owe Westside developers and can take his business downtown.
