Ball Stars as USC Wins Triangular Meet
Lesley Ball of USC won the 800 meters and 1,500 meters and anchored the 1,600-meter relay team to victory to lead the Trojan women to victories over San Diego State, 89-46, and Cal State Long Beach, 98-34, in a triangular track and field meet Saturday at Cromwell Field.
Ball won the 800 in 2:11.42 and set a school record of 4:20.31 in the 1,500.
Yvette Bates of USC won the triple jump with a wind-aided leap of 43 feet 7 3/4 inches and also won the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best 13.92 seconds.
