Mural Restoration Must Be a Priority

I read with great interest your article on the petrachrome wall mosaic at Centinela Park in Inglewood (Times, March 20). I always find it strange how little interest there is in preserving and protecting buildings and landmarks with historical implications. A parking lot or a high-rise office building is the usual replacement. But lo and behold, as soon as there comes summer and vacation time, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans travel overseas to look at old and historical places.

I do hope the City of Inglewood, in cooperation with the county, will be successful in preserving and restoring this unique work of art before it is damaged even more.
