Central City West Is Not a No-Man’s Land

Sam Hall Kaplan’s column (March 20) reported a “lemon” awarded by the design community to the Community Redevelopment Agency for not keeping its promise to restore Angel’s Flight on Bunker Hill.

I have another example of a broken promise. Do you recall back in the ‘60s, when a Marine veteran and his family were ordered out of their home by a court because the Hollywood Museum was to be built on that property? It was near the Hollywood Bowl. The man protected his home at gunpoint before he finally surrendered and was evicted. The museum was never built on that site. But the ex-Marine lost his home and was taken into custody. Well worth another lemon award.
