Moorpark Boy, 12, Only Nicked by Train
A 12-year-old Moorpark boy suffered only minor injuries when he was struck by a passenger train as he walked along a railroad bridge Friday, authorities said.
Joshua Runnion and another boy were walking on the bridge east of Spring Road when Runnion was struck about 11 a.m. by an Amtrak train headed for Santa Barbara, said Lt. Paul Buckley of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. He said the other boy jumped to safety.
Buckley said the engineer of the train was interviewed about the accident and then allowed to continue to Santa Barbara.
Runnion, who lives on Spring Road, was reported in fair condition at Los Robles Regional Medical Center with a broken right arm and a concussion. A hospital spokeswoman said the boy was doing well.
