Downey Citizens Search for Pride
I am a Downey resident of 27 years and have become greatly distressed in recent years by the significant decline of leadership in Downey. With the progress being made in surrounding communities such as Paramount and Santa Fe Springs, it becomes clear that Downey’s redevelopment activities are a tragedy--in my opinion, a clear case of incompetence and mismanagement.
The current squabbles among various City Council members and the apparent lack of quality legal advice have made a mockery of the city. As a concerned citizen, I have concluded that something must be done to “right the ship,” and this has led to my participation in the formation of the Citizens for Downey organization, with the objective of encouraging a broader participation by Downey residents to hopefully bring some pride back to the community.
