Pitt Tackle May Have Surgery on Knee
Associated Press
PITTSBURGH — Tony Siragusa, the University of Pittsburgh’s starting defensive tackle, may undergo knee surgery that could sideline him for the entire 1988 season, according to Coach Mike Gottfried.
Siragusa, a 6-foot-5, 270 pound junior from Kenilworth, N.J., will decide by Monday whether to have the surgery on his right knee, which was twisted in a recent spring practice scrimmage.
Siragusa had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last year, which contributed to his disappointing season with 49 tackles, 28 solo. Siragusa made 78 tackles in 1986.
