Local News in Brief : Anaheim : 1 Man Killed, 3 Hurt by Assailant With Knife
One man was killed and three others were seriously wounded by a man wielding a knife after a dance at the Anaheim Convention Center early Sunday, police said.
Luis Anguiano, 22, of Anaheim, died on the pavement outside the Convention Center after being stabbed several times in the upper torso, Anaheim Police Sgt. Ron Girk said.
Tomas Martinez and Rafael A. Guerrero, both 23 and of Southgate, were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where their conditions were reported as serious. Jose Ortiz, 21, of Anaheim, was in serious condition at Western Medical Center, Girk said.
Police were notified of a fight on Katella Avenue outside the Convention Center about 1:15 a.m. and arrived “within seconds,” Girk said.
But the assailant, whom witnesses described as a Latino about 22 or 23 years old, already had fled the scene, he said.
Anaheim police do not know what started the fight but they are not regarding it as gang-related, Girk said.
