Hewlett-Packard Co. introduced seven new computers ranging in price from $45,000 to nearly $400,000, and Sun Microsystems Inc. unveiled a new family of general-purpose desktop computers. Palo Alto-based Hewlett-Packard said its new models are based on RISC, or reduced instruction set computing, which is a way to get more speed through simplification. The company said the new models include four additions to the HP 3000 series of business computers and three additions to the HP 9000 series of technical and engineering computers. Mountain View, Calif.-based Sun Microsystems unveiled its first personal computers, ones based on Intel Corp.’s speedy 80386 microprocessor.
