Avenal City Hall reopened after a 2 1/2-day closure in which financial records were audited and the Kings County Sheriff’s Department investigated a city employee for alleged misuse of city funds. City Manager Steve Casey said a Hanford accounting firm has completed its work and will release a report on Avenal’s finances in two or three days. Casey refused to release any further details about the case, saying he wanted the report to speak for itself. Four city employees were placed on administrative leave earlier this week while the audit was under way.
