Thatcher in Turkey for Three-Day Visit

ANKARA, Turkey — British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher arrived in Turkey on Wednesday for a three-day visit.
Thatcher, the first British leader to visit Turkey since Winston Churchill in 1943, was met at Ankara airport by conservative Prime Minister Turgut Ozal.
Her visit to Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is designed to underline Britain’s commitment to the Atlantic Alliance and to enhance bilateral relations.
