Krukow Settles for Spot in Giant Home Opener
Associated Press
SAN FRANCISCO — Mike Krukow wanted to be the San Francisco Giants’ starting pitcher on opening day at Dodger Stadium. He had to settle instead for the assignment in tonight’s home opener against San Diego, but Krukow is not unhappy.
“There’s no difference, really,” the veteran right-hander said. “It’s still an honor. Some guys don’t like to talk about it, but it’s a pride thing for me.”
A capacity crowd of more than 52,000 and the usual chilly conditions are expected at Candlestick Park to watch Krukow pitch against Eric Show in the Giants’ first night home opener.
