Prep Softball : Ocean View Rallies to Beat Western in the Ninth, 5-4
Dana Ursich doubled to score Shannon Pouelsen and Jena Sansone in the ninth inning and give Ocean View High School a 5-4 victory over Western in a nonleague softball game Wednesday at Ocean View.
Ocean View trailed, 4-3, after Western scored in the top of the ninth.
Winning pitcher Cindy Schneller (6-6) and Jamie Walker hit home runs for Ocean View (8-7). Schneller, a senior, struck out 12, walked 2 and gave up 3 hits.
Western broke a 3-3 tie when Lisa Scirrino singled, went to second on a sacrifice, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch in the ninth.
In other nonleague games:
Villa Park 4, Sonora 1--Munique Hernandez (1-4) pitched a three-hitter and went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBIs for visiting Villa Park (5-11). Suzie Barnett led off the game with a home run for Villa Park.
Woodbridge 3, Westminster 2--Charisse Kiino had an RBI fielder’s choice in the second and singled and scored in the fifth for host Woodbridge (10-5). Lisa Wehran (2-1) pitched a complete game.
Mission Viejo 5, Orange 2--Jenny Heydt (6-0) pitched the first five innings, giving up one hit, to lead visiting Mission Viejo (11-3). Renee Pina had two hits and scored a run and raised her batting average to .439.
San Clemente 8, Costa Mesa 2--Kathy Johnson had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, Wendy Moon had 2 hits and Michelle Shean had a two-run triple for host San Clemente (10-3).
In Sea View League softball:
Tustin 4, University 2--Tanya McGuire had two hits and two RBIs for host Tustin (7-3, 4-0). Jayme Ondracek (5-2) pitched a complete game. University is 3-1 in league.
