High School Baseball
Ramona 6, Escondido 5 (8)--Matt Dart’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave host Ramona (7-3, 1-0) the victory. Escondido (6-6, 0-1) led, 5-3, in the fifth when Ty Wilson tied the game for Ramona with a two-run homer.
San Marcos 18, Rancho BV 1--San Marcos (6-3-2, 1-0) sent 14 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning and scored 10 runs to the win at home. Bill McElroy added a grand slam in a six-run third inning. Rancho Buena Vista is 4-8, 0-1.
CITY CENTRAL LEAGUE
Hoover 10, San Diego 3--Tim Tucciarone (4-0) scattered 8 hits for Hoover at San Diego. Mike McKnight was 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs, and Mike Wahlstrom was 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Hoover (10-5, 3-0). San Diego is 8-5, 1-2.
PALOMAR LEAGUE
Torrey Pines 5, Orange Glen 3--Matt Livingston’s RBI single in the fifth snapped a 3-3 tie and carried visiting Torrey Pines to its 14th consecutive victory. John Lynch pitched five innings to pick up the victory for Torrey Pines (14-0, 1-0). Orange Glen is 6-9-1, 0-1.
Fallbrook 4, Vista 1--Jamie Willcox pitched a two-hitter, and Jeff Lawrence drove in a pair of runs to lead visiting Fallbrook (9-4, 1-0). Willcox walked seven and struck out six. Vista is 6-8-1, 0-1.
Poway 7, Mt. Carmel 4--Chris Beeman and Ron Kelly hit home runs for Mt. Carmel, but the defending section 3-A champion Sundevils (10-9, 0-1) still lost for the fifth time in six games. After winning the AAA Division of the Lions Tournament last Wednesday, Mt. Carmel lost four of five games in the Las Vegas tournament over the weekend. Poway is 7-5, 1-0.
