Chuck Cecil, former University of Arizona All-American free safety, faces court action after being arrested over the weekend for disorderly conduct at a Tempe, Ariz., nightclub.
A police spokesman said Cecil, 23, was reportedly drinking at a nightclub in the Arizona State area Saturday night and started bothering several members of the UCLA track team.
The UCLA squad was in Tempe for the annual Sun Angel Track and Field meet.
Police said Cecil chased the UCLA track athletes out of the bar and down a street.
When a female officer arrived on the scene, the 6-foot 185-pound Cecil reportedly became “loud and boisterous” and said he wanted to fight her, according to police.
After a brief struggle with two male officers, Cecil was taken to Tempe City Jail, booked for disorderly conduct and released.
Police said court action was pending against Cecil, a Hanford, Calif., native now residing close to the Arizona campus in Tucson.
