Roundup : La Quinta Sweeps Past Garden Grove for Volleyball Win
Craig Frisby had 13 kills and 7 blocks to lead La Quinta High School to a 15-6, 15-8, 15-9 victory over Garden Grove in a Garden Grove League volleyball match at La Quinta Wednesday.
Tony Price had 12 kills for La Quinta (5-4, 4-0).
In Pacific Coast League volleyball:
Laguna Beach 3, Costa Mesa 0--Sean Stafford and Malcom Gapp had 10 kills each for host Laguna Beach (10-1, 4-1) in a 15-3, 15-2, 15-2 win.
In Sunset League volleyball:
Edison 3, Marina 1--Senior middle blocker Brian Boone had 18 kills and 11 blocks to lead visiting Edison (7-0, 1-0) to a 9-15, 16-14, 15-12, 15-7 win. Marina is 4-3, 0-1.
In Sea View League boys’ swimming:
Tustin 94, Estancia 55--Paul Barrera won the 100-yard backstroke in 58.2 seconds for host Tustin.
In Pacific Coast League boys’ swimming:
Orange 97, Trabuco Hills 55--Tim Castro won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.95 for host Orange (6-2, 2-0).
In Orange League golf:
Valencia 198, Savanna 252--Harold Pike shot an even-par 37 at Alta Vista Country Club in the 30th straight victory in the past two years for Valencia (11-0, 3-0).
In Pacific Coast League golf:
Laguna Beach 195, Laguna Hills 204--Matt O’Hara shot a one-under-par 31 and John Gilles shot a 2-over-par 34 to lead Laguna Beach at Aliso Creek golf course.
In Orange League tennis:
Anaheim 10, Brea-Olinda 8--Anaheim’s No. 2 doubles team of Dean Nguyen and Jack Kuei swept their matches, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0, to lead Anaheim (8-1, 5-1) at Pearson Park in Anaheim.
In nonleague tennis:
University 12, Woodbridge 6--University’s No. 1 doubles team of Steve Lappin and Aaron Bartz swept their matches to lead host University.
In Sunset League badminton:
Huntington Beach 9, Westminster 8--Susan Schmidt’s three-game victory helped lead Huntington Beach at home.
