Typical left-wing, liberal, air-head media bias fairly oozes from Allan Parachini’s article, “The Demise of the Tomboy” (March 22).

As a 44-year-old who grew up on the streets of Chicago, we had a tomboy who competed in our softball games. Pre-pubescent, she was very good. Subsequently, her relative skills deteriorated quickly, and she gradually stopped playing. At 13 or 14 she was no longer good enough to compete with her male colleagues (read boys).

In 1988 we have so-called women’s athletics. In this sex-segregated, sexual-apartheid context, there is no need for tomboys because the females compete with other females (read second-rate).

Women, by their biological definition are athletically inferior to men, whether you egalitarian whining ninnies wish to make that acknowledgment.
