Old Trolleys in Los Angeles
Thanks for the great memories that the article on old trolleys by Steve Harvey brought back (Metro, March 26).
My dad was a motorman on the old Yellow Cars and we loved to ride on them. Our favorite was when he was working on the No. 5 line. We lived in Glendale and we would go over and meet him at the end of the line on Colorado Boulevard a few blocks east of Eagle Rock Boulevard.
It seemed to us like it was a very long ride to the other end in Hawthorne and we really liked it. It was even better when it was his last run of the day and we could have dinner at the Car Barn Cafe near the division he worked out of in Glassell Park.
The Red Cars were fun to ride on too, especially the ride to Long Beach. The Yellow Cars remain my favorite as we rode them so many times.
