A Cypriot plane and a British commuter airliner carrying a total of 336 people were involved in a near-miss over London, the Civil Aviation Authority said. The British Broadcasting Corp. reported that the pilot of the British plane, a Manx Airlines BA-146 flying to Heathrow Airport from the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, dived beneath the Cypriot Airbus from Larnaca, just before an air-traffic controller ordered him to descend. The controller handling the flights was suspended, authorities said. On Tuesday, two airliners with 230 people aboard came within seconds of colliding at London’s Gatwick Airport when one of the planes landed on a taxiway.
