High School Spring Sports
In other boys’ track meets:
Notre Dame 91, St. John Bosco 35--Notre Dame’s Tom Parker, the runner-up in last year’s state championships in the pole vault, cleared a personal best of 16-6 in the Del Rey League meet at St. John Bosco.
Parker, who had a previous best of 16-2 3/4, cleared 16-6 on his second attempt.
Crespi 119, Alemany 26--Russell White, Eric Kieling and Ron Redell led Crespi to its second consecutive Del Rey League title with the rout at Alemany.
White ran a personal best of 49.6 in the 440 to narrowly defeat Alemany junior Tony Borquez (49.7).
Kieling won the 120-yard high hurdles in a personal best of 14.9 and the long jump with a distance of 19-9. Redell won the 220 in 23.5 and the 880 in 2:06.2 for Crespi (8-0, 5-0).
GIRLS’ TRACK
Alemany 104, Louisville 33--Lisa Gill led the Indians to a share of their second consecutive San Fernando Valley League title at Alemany.
Gill, the defending 1-A champion in the triple jump, won the event with a mark of 36-3, and added victories in the long jump (17-2) and the 110-yard low hurdles (15.5).
SOFTBALL
Simi Valley 2, Camarillo--Junior Chrissy Oliver pitched her second career no-hitter and had a career-high 15 strikeouts as Simi Valley won a Marmonte League game at Camarillo.
Newbury Park 16, Westlake 0--Marilyn Carroll pitched a two-hitter and was 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the host Panthers to the Marmonte League victory.
El Camino Real 17, Cleveland 3--The Conquistadores collected 24 hits in the West Valley League game at home.
Taft 10, Reseda 0--A nine-run second inning lifted the visiting Toreadors (10-2, 7-0) in a West Valley League game.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Burbank 10, Alhambra 8--Mark Nielsen won three matches as the visiting Bulldogs clinched their first Foothill League championship since 1979.
El Camino Real 7, Taft 0--Mark Sundahl, Scott Blumin and Oscar Picon all recorded singles wins for El Camino Real (9-1, 5-0) in a West Valley League match.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Hart d. La Canada, 15-13, 15-11, 8-15, 15-11--Peter Quinlan had 17 kills in the Foothill League match at La Canada.
Royal d. Canyon, 15-5, 9-15, 15-6, 14-16, 15-9--Dean Borth recorded a school-record 54 assists for host Royal in the nonleague match.
