Security Tight at U.S. Base in the Philippines
ANGELES, Philippines — Security was tightened outside the U.S. Clark Air Base following Israeli intelligence reports that Palestine Liberation Organization guerrillas planned a weekend attack on U.S. service personnel, the military said Friday.
Lt. Col. Victor Signey, commander of Philippine forces in Angeles City, the liberty town outside the base, told his troops that U.S. officials received a radio message from Israel on Thursday alerting them to the planned attack.
Signey said that Israel’s intelligence service reported that three PLO guerrillas would arrive in Angeles on Saturday to meet four other guerrillas already in town.
