A second teen-ager has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 67-year-old Woodland Hills man, police said Sunday.

Devin Marcel Feagin, 19, believed by police to be a member of a southeast Los Angeles gang, turned himself in Saturday night in connection with the death of Howard David King, said Detective Larry Dolley of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Division.

King was gunned down Friday night in his bedroom by two robbers who had broken in through the rear door of his home in the 22900 block of Darien Street, just south of Mulholland Drive, Dolley said. King’s wife, Faye, 68, was forced to lie down on the kitchen floor and did not witness which of the two men killed her husband, Dolley said. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

A 17-year-old youth, also believed to belong to the gang, was arrested shortly after the shooting.

The teen-ager’s rapid arrest was the result of information obtained from the Kings’ neighbors, who asked not to be identified because they fear recriminations from other gang members, Dolley said.

The neighbors, a couple who have lived in the area for 20 years, said they were barbecuing Thursday night when they saw a gold Cadillac with a black vinyl top and a decorative spare tire on the trunk lid slowly cruise their quiet cul-de-sac and park in a driveway.

License Plate Noted

When the car passed their home a second time, the couple wrote down its license plate number and called police. After the shooting, police used the license number to trace the address of the juvenile, Dolley said. The youth was arrested as he drove up in the gold Cadillac.

“It was real break for us,” Dolley said. “I can’t tell you how great we feel that these citizens were so observant.”

Dolley said that after the youth was brought to the West Valley station Friday night, a sneaker print found at the crime scene was matched to one of his shoes. Faye King also identified him as one of the assailants, Dolley said.

Feagin became a suspect after police found his fingerprints in the Kings’ home, Dolley said. He turned himself in after learning that he was being sought, Dolley said.

Both Feagin and the younger teen-ager were known to Southeast Division police as gang members, Dolley said.

Feagin is being held in the West Valley Division jail. The other youth is being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall.
