Four Taper Plays Europe-Bound

Four Mark Taper Forum productions will travel to Europe within the next month, Taper artistic director Gordon Davidson announced Monday.

“A Christmas Memory,” “With Alice in Wonderland” and excerpts from “Tintypes” will be presented as part of the U.S. Information Agency’s “American Theatre Today” exhibition in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, May 25-June 19. Each show will play at least twice each day. The USIA is underwriting the trip.

“One Thousand Cranes,” a production of the Taper’s Improvisational Theatre Project, will appear at the Theatre of the World festival in Munich on May 17 and 18 and at the Internationales Kinder Theater Festival in Vienna on May 20. The Taper will be the only American theater company represented in both of these children’s theater festivals.

The Fund for U.S. Artists at International Festivals and the International Theatre Institute are contributing funds for the Improvisational Theatre Project appearances.
