Joey Kane struck out a career-high 15 batters and had a no-hitter through 7 innings before settling on a three-hitter as Valley defeated San Bernardino, 7-1, Tuesday in a Southern California Conference game at Valley.

“I throw a forkball and I forked ‘em pretty much today,” Kane said. “I figured if I could stay consistent with it I’d be successful and today I was.”

The victory was the seventh in a row for Valley (17-16, 14-8 in conference play). The Monarchs need a win Thursday at College of the Desert to advance to the state regional playoffs.

CS Los Angeles 9, CS Northridge 3--Chae-Ho Chong homered and doubled and John Bonilla was 3 for 4, but their hits were the only offense the Matadors could muster in the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. game at Cal State L. A.

The Matadors jumped ahead, 1-0, in the first, but the Golden Eagles rallied for four in the second and never trailed thereafter.
