Popping Andy

Doesn’t anyone else think that Andy Warhol was nothing but a depressing example of gross conspicuous consumption at its worst (“Warhol: Pop Artist or Crusader for Tradition?” by Suzanne Muchnic, May 8)?

Really, how many cookie jars, wristwatches, etc., etc., does one person require?

I know I’m going to sound like my mother, but it is cause for concern when Warhol can make a career of shopping while others struggle for survival.

What an empty personal life he must have had to be so obsessed with surrounding himself with possessions.
