Munich police arrested 27 right-wing extremists who held an illegal rally, gave the Nazi salute and shouted Nazi slogans, officials said. The arrests occurred after police briefly took into custody Michael Kuehnen, a 32-year-old neo-Nazi leader. Kuehnen had been scheduled to speak at a meeting of the Bavarian branch of the far-right Free Workers’ Party in nearby Siegertsbrunn. Police said they feared that Kuehnen could instigate violence if he were allowed to speak at the meeting.
