Young Iranian radicals linked to the seizure of the U.S. Embassy and 62 American hostages in 1979 appear to have won a sweeping victory in elections to the Iranian Parliament, according to sources in Tehran contacted by telephone from Athens. The radicals won a majority of the 30 seats from the Tehran area in the Islamic Majlis, Iran’s 270-seat Parliament. They also appeared to have a majority in the provinces, although their exact strength was not immediately clear, according to the sources. In the second round of elections last week, radicals gained their majority of Tehran-area seats by winning 14 of 16 races not decided in previous voting April 8.
